Hot 100 Chart Moves: Post-‘Despacito,’ Globally-Minded Hits by J Balvin & Willy William, Camila Cabello & BTS Surge

“Mi Gente,” “Havana” and “DNA” are all logging notable Hot 100 action.

“Despacito” may have dropped from No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, but the effects of the Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber collaboration — which led the list for a record-tying 16-weeks — are being felt further via a wave of rising hits that sport worldwide influences. (“Despacito” ranks at No. 5 on the Hot 100 this week, dated Oct. 14, and tops the Hot Latin Songs chart for a 35th week.)

J Balvin and Willy William‘s fellow Spanish-language “Mi Gente” bullets at No. 21 on the Hot 100 and should surge following the release of its remix featuring Beyonce; it could bound from 15,000 sold in the week ending Sept. 28, according to Nielsen Music, to more than 70,000 the following frame.

At No. 67 on the Hot 100, BTS earns the highest-charting Hot 100 hit ever by a K-pop group, as the Korean-sung “DNA” darts by 114 percent to 11.4 million domestic streams.

Plus, Camila Cabello‘s ode to her homeland, “Havana” (featuring Young Thug), charges 64-44 on the Hot 100, up 22 percent to 11.8 million U.S. streams after she performed it on NBC’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Sept. 25. Says Brian Kelly, program director of WXSS Milwaukee, a champion of “Havana” (which leaps 31-24 on the Pop Songs airplay chart), “The song raises its hand among all the straight-ahead pop. I have no doubt it’s the next big hit incorporating an international feel. ‘Despacito’ knocked down the door.”

As previously reported, Cardi B‘s “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” tops the Hot 100 for a second week, while Demi Lovato logs her first Hot 100 top 10 since 2013, as “Sorry Not Sorry” jumps 15-10. Plus, Imagine Dragons fire up the best-selling song of the week as “Thunder” (up 30-17 on the Hot 100) hikes 4-1 for their first No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart (with 65,000 sold).

Who else makes noteworthy Hot 100 moves this week?

“What Lovers Do,” Maroon 5 feat. SZA
The song becomes Maroon 5’s 17th top 20 hit on the Hot 100 (and SZA’s first), rising 23-20. On the Adult Pop Songs airplay chart, it’s the band’s record-extending 22nd top 10 (and, again, SZA’s first), lifting 11-9. Taylor Swift ranks second with 16 Adult Pop Songs top 10s, followed by Kelly Clarkson (15).

Meanwhile, SZA’s own “Love Galore,” featuring Travis Scott, hits a new Hot 100 high, rising 33-32.

“Perfect,” Ed Sheeran
The third proper single from Sheeran’s album ÷ bounds 89-58 on the Hot 100. After its official lyric video premiered Sept. 22, it blasts 40-12 on Digital Song Sales (28,000, up 109 percent) and leaps by 35 percent to 4.7 million U.S. streams. (Sheeran co-wrote the ballad with his brother, Matthew.)
