The Chainsmokers, Tiesto, & More Join Diplo in Donating Hundreds of Thousands to Las Vegas Victims and Families

Dance music and club DJ culture has become as much of a Las Vegas staple as Elvis impersonators and themed hotels. It’s only right that those artists who’ve made so much money playing for Vegas crowds give back to the city and its inhabitants in their time of need.

Nearly 60 music lovers died and more than 500 were injured in the recent mass shooting at Route 91 Harvest Festival on Oct. 1, just outside of Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. After addressing gun control issues on Twitter, Diplo donated all his booking fees for this past weekend, a total of $100,000, to the victims and their families. He then sent a call to action to other DJs and club owners in the city to match him.

So far, The Chainsmokers, Tiesto, Kaskade, Dillon Francis, and Valentino Khan have taken their fellow DJ up on the challenge, with The Chainsmokers donating $100,000 each and even visiting Sunrise Hospital where the victims are being treated. Tiesto “doubled down” on his donation, giving $200,000. Dillon Francis donated half of his fund to Vegas and half to those still suffering in the wake of Hurricane Irma in Puerto Rico. Valentino Khan also donated his full booking fees from the weekend.
